Collagen Induction Therapy (Microneedling)
COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY
Microneedling (also referred to as skin needling or Collagen Induction Therapy) is a treatment designed to rejuvenate the skin and combat particular concerns.
Microneedling can be used to resolve a wide range of problems occurring in the skin. Such as;
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scars
- Surgical scars
- Burn scars
- Dilated pores
- Under eye bags
- Stretch marks
- Overall skin texture
- Overall skin elasticity
- Uneven skin tone
- Skin pigmentation
- Sun damage
Microneedling is based on the skin’s ability to repair itself when there is an occurrence of any physical damage like cuts, scratch or burns.
The treatment involves the use of microneedling machines like Derma roller or Dermapen to pierce the tiny holes in a specific pattern on the area being treated, your body will then respond by sending collagen and elastin to heal the area where treatment is carried out.
The collagen and elastin that are produced by creating the tiny wounds will not only heal the damaged area, but the surrounding areas, ultimately smothering the scars, reducing the fine line and wrinkles and making the skin plumper and younger looking.
Apart from this, the other benefit is that if any topical cream or serum is applied to the skin after the microneedling, it will be more effective as it will be absorbed by the deeper layers of the skin.
The Microneedling pen allows the technician to provide a variation of results in 1 treatment sitting.
The disposable tip of the device used has 12 needles and the thinnest needles on the market with a 33 gauge. The needle depth can be varied throughout the treatment from 0mm- 2.5mm, allowing the technician to treat in even the most delicate and trickiest of areas such as; eyes, nose, lips.
